Postdoctoral Position in CryoEM/ET of Virus–Host Interactions – UW–Madison

Our lab seeks to understand how viral glycoproteins dynamically recognized during receptor engagement and membrane fusion, and how these conformational changes enable viral entry while evading innate and adaptive immune recognition (

PMC8673750). Current and future projects include HIV-1, KSHV, and EBV, with broader interests in oncogenic viruses and virus–host membrane interfaces.
We combine virology and structural biology with advanced imaging approaches, including cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM), cryo-electron tomography (cryoET), and in situ cryo-FIB/ET, as well as complementary biochemical and computational approaches. Our goal is to visualize dynamic virus-host interactions in native membrane and cellular environments and uncover their molecular mechanisms.
Candidates with a strong background in cryoEM/ET, particularly in membrane proteins, viruses or membrane associated complexes, are especially encouraged to apply. Salary will be commensurate with experience and follow NIH postdoctoral stipend guidelines.
