An open fully funded PhD position for 3 years with the possibility of extension is now available.
You will be part of a growing team in the Institute of Biochemistry, group of Andreas Schlundt, at the University of Greifswald, a small, beautiful, and affordable university city at the shores of the Baltic Sea in the North of Germany, approx. 2-3 hours from Berlin and Hamburg. The Schlundt lab is excellently embedded in a large research infrastructure and with the neighboring departments, as well as one of Germany’s best university hospitals.
The position is open from 01.01.2026, or at the earliest possible time point and remuneration is in accordance with salary grade 13 TV-L (65%, collective agreement of the federal states).
Project description:
You will carry out work on a novel project related to the structural and biochemical analysis of protein-nucleic acid complexes relevant in gene-regulation at the host-virus interface. Our central methodologies are solution NMR, crystallography and SAXS, together with a broad method spectrum from biochemistry and biophysics. In this project, we plan to analyze the remodeling of DNA and RNA G-quadruplex structures by a multi-ZnF-protein in an interdisciplinary approach including a plethora of strong collaborations.
