We are thrilled to announce that applications are now open for this year’s Wellcome-iNEXT Cryo-EM in Structural Biology course. This unique opportunity is primarily aimed at PhD students who are new to the field of cryo-EM and will be using it as part of their work.
 
The course will provide fundamental lectures and practical demonstrations in cryo-EM, covering everything from sample preparation and the electron microscope, through to image formation and processing, reconstruction in SPA and cryo-ET, and model building.

Attendance Details
Lectures will be held in-person at Diamond Light Source and will be broadcast to the wider community via Zoom. Demonstrations and hands-on practical sessions covering sample preparation, cryo-EM screening, SPA data collection and cryo-ET will be available to in-person attendees only.
 
Due to limited space, in-person places are strictly limited to 12 delegates: 
 
·       7 spaces are reserved for our internal DTP Students (attendance by invitation) and are funded by the Wellcome Trust
·       5 spaces are available by application to selected PhD students from the community (application details below) - these spaces are available for non-UK based PhD students and are funded by iNEXT-Discovery
 
You can apply for the funded PhD spaces, or you can register to attend the Zoom lecture sessions. You can also register for the Zoom sessions now should your application not be successful. 
 
There is no fee to attend this course in-person or online, but registration is mandatory. For the 5 iNEXT funded places, accommodation and food will be provided, however you will need to arrange and pay for your own travel to get to Diamond.
 
Application Process
Applications are open from April 26th to May 12th. To apply, please prepare the following documents: 
·       A cover letter describing your motivation for applying for the course, how it will benefit your PhD research, your current role/position, and your plans for using EM.
·       A letter of support from your PhD supervisor
